Best Vegetarian Recipes l Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers 25

Mar25

How to make Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers Video. Veggie Burgers are a nutritional alternative to beef burgers. Many people don’t think of making their own veggie burgers but they are really easy to make at home. Store bought veggie burgers are nutritional but often very high in sodium and preservatives. You can substitute the eggs in this recipe with “flax eggs” which are a mix of 6 tbsp ground flax to 2 tbsp boiling water. The milk in this recipe can be substituted with either soya milk or rice milk. This makes the recipe completely vegan! Lentils are high in fiber which makes them a good protector against bowel cancer. I recommend organic, low sodium lentils if you are buying canned. They are an excellent source of protein and are an important source of B vitamins, especially B3, which is essential for both a healthy nervous system and digestive system. They are high in iron, zinc and calcium and are a good replacement for red meat. Like meat, the iron in lentils is better absorbed when they are eaten with a good source of vitamin C like leafy green vegetables. Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, a special type of fat that is essential for our bodies, but that the body cannot produce. (Re omega 3 see also flaxseeds.blogspot.com ) Walnuts are also a very good source of monounsaturated fats. Walnuts contain many powerful antioxidants, including ellagic and gallic acids, pus antioxidant phenols and vitamin E. The minerals copper and manganese are also

@insamsara002 Last I checked you don’t slaughter cows to get their milk, nor do you for chicken’s eggs.
And vegans are the ones who don’t use any animal byproducts in their food. Vegetarians don’t eat flesh of animals. Please, if you’re going to make a point don’t make yourself to be an idiot while doing so. Thanks. :]

Mine keep falling apart when I grill them. How do I keep this from happening? More egg? Wheat gearm? Help they are good, but they fall apart.

To the snide and superior vegans that responded to this video. It was never posted as vegan. And you will never win anyone over with your snotty comments. I’ve been a vegetarian for 27 years. I don’t drink cow’s milk, but I do buy local free ranging chicken eggs. I feel I’m just as concerned as anyone about animal welfare. People are far more apt to listen if you are not so rude.

This was never posted as a vegan burger. They say through out the video, that this is a veggie burger. So quit being so snide and superior over the rest of us. I’ve been a vegetarian for 27 years. I do not drink cow’s milk, but do buy eggs from local free range farms. You are not going to win anyone over to being vegan with your attitudes.

@insamsara002 Vegans don’t eat dairy and eggs vegetarians do.. maybe you should get real and REALLY know the difference before you post idiot comments and embarrass yourself

This looks absolutely delicious! I’ve been a vegetarian for four years and I am still on the hunt for recipes like these :) can’t wait to try it

as far as I’m concerned you’re not a vegetarian if you consume dairy and eggs… get real and REALLY care about the animal’s that the products come from, otherwise you might as well eat meat.

@DarkoBWM Because the turn vegetarian it means a dominately plant based diet but some meat like eggs, fish, and chicken. Now vegan is 100% plant based they dont even eat cookies that may have had milk in it as an ingredient. Big difference.

  19. MulattoFemmez says:

For all of you on here saying eggs and milk aren’t part of a vegetarian diet you need to get your facts straight before you come and talk badly about it. Lacto-ovo vegetarians consume eggs and milk but no animal FLESH (key word)….vegans consume no animal product at all….2 completely different things so if you dont like eggs or milk maybe you shouldnt be looking up a VEGETARIAN dish…You need a vegan recipe

  20. DarkoBWM says:

@Patrick470 I was reading that some “vegetarians” still eat eggs. Don’t call yourself a vegetarian if you still consume animals…

  21. Patrick470 says:

@DarkoBWM lol exactly what i was thinking

  22. DarkoBWM says:

How is this a veggie burger if she put eggs in it?

  23. nEWwORLDhOARDER says:

What can a vegan substitute for the eggs and milk/soymilk. The eggs and milk are 30% animal fat, no thanks, and soy(milk) is unhealthy per Dr. Mercola.

  24. ouchthatsmarts says:

Thanks for posting. It would help if you included the text of the recipe in the description.
